MLB The Show 26 Bench Optimization Guide by U4GM
I tested Moonshot with a "balanced" lineup first, and it was a waste of a run. Contact hitters who normally save you in Ranked barely matter when every Common pitcher is missing spots and every decent swing can leave a high-elevation park. I would rather keep my stubs for cards that actually mash, although players managing a thin budget sometimes look at MLB 26 stubs before building a dedicated event squad. Moonshot rewards aggression, not pretty baseball.
Build for three innings, not a full Ranked game
The best Moonshot lineup is not necessarily your highest overall lineup. I prioritize power against both sides, fast swings, and hitters whose pull-side contact carries. Schwarber, Harper, and similar left-handed sluggers are obvious choices, but right-handed bats with strong pull tendencies can be just as nasty against a tired Common reliever. Game Update 14 also made same-handed low-and-away breaking balls less miserable by slightly expanding the PCI, so stacking one side is less risky than it used to be.
1. Use power ratings before batting average when choosing your starting nine.
2. Keep two pinch hitters for platoon changes, not defensive replacements.
3. Favor quick swings over slow leg kicks in two-strike situations.
Bench construction matters more than people admit. In a three-inning game, waiting until the seventh to use your best matchup makes no sense. If the opponent brings in a lefty Common pitcher and you have a right-handed 110-power bat available, use him immediately. A single early three-run homer often decides the entire game.
Pitching is damage control, not a shutdown plan
Do not enter Moonshot expecting clean innings. Common pitchers have huge PARs, weak control, and enough hanging pitches to ruin any sequence. The goal is to make the other player earn their damage instead of donating it with middle-middle fastballs. I get better results throwing cutters, sliders, and changeups just beyond the corners, then occasionally climbing with a fastball after showing enough off-speed stuff.
The common mistake is aiming for the black and assuming the pitcher will hit it. With a Common arm, aim farther outside than feels comfortable. A miss may still clip the edge; a perfect release can produce a chase. Also, do not repeat the same low slider after a home run. Moonshot players are sitting on patterns more than locations.
Fast program progress without burning entries
For farming Season XP, Program Stars, and offensive PXP, keep the event lineup focused on cards that need missions or parallel progress. This is one of the few modes where a mediocre power card can finish a stat requirement quickly. Still, do not sacrifice every at-bat to mission chasing. A loss gives less value than finishing one useful objective while keeping enough elite bats to win.
U4GM operates as a professional platform for players purchasing game currency or items, and players who want to speed up roster spending can buy u4gm MLB 26 stubs for extra flexibility, while checking current game rules and choosing cards that fit their Moonshot plan.
